Diluc was the first character that piqued my interest when Genshin first released back in 2020. I made an account just to see him, but my PC at the time couldn't run it very well, so I gave up in frustration
I re-downloaded it around 2023, upon getting better hardware, and I fell in love with him again. Despite there being many better options, he is my main to this day.
I think Diluc is very misunderstood, both in game and within the fandom. He's kind and caring towards others, he just doesn't express his emotions too intensely, and so lots of people interpret him as 'rude' or 'emo'.
I suppose I see some of myself in him. He went through a lot of trauma that changed how he interacts with others, and nobody seems to cut him any slack. If my dad was murdered on my birthday, and then my life-long adoptive brother revealed he was actually an undercover spy the same day, I would also react a little poorly I think!
Anyway, TL;DR I just think he's an interesting character. He's nice, but not overbearingly so like a lot of characters in this game are haha. I also think his character design is one of Genshin's better ones. It's not too much, not too little.
People often mock his model, comparing it to newer ones, talking about how "ugly" he looks in comparison now. One thing people pick up on a lot is his "baby face", large eyes and soft features that don't match his "tough personality"
I personally thing his baby face is integral to his character. That design choice used to be fitting! He was happy, cheerful, and incredibly outgoing once. It's a reminder of who he used to be, of what his character has gonbe through. I guess most players never read the webtoon, so they just assume he's always been an "asshole"
Also I just think he is cute. I like his stupid bug eyes and wet noodle ponytail okay?? Plus he has anime girl hair vents which improve every character design by 1000x
Merch of Diluc is one of my favourite thinsg to collect currently! Every time I venture out to a convention I will buy just about every piece of Diluc merch, fanmade or official, I can see.
I have a lovely itabag of him I'd like to share on here at some point. I'm considering buying a garage kit of him, as his singular official figure is a Funko Pop.... like, yeah, I bought it, but c'mon...
I actually haven't been playing Genshin as much lately (burnout lol), but I have Diluc at C4. I guess that counts as merch? Lol.
I'll add more to this at some point. For now, bye bye!
